Maggie - Illinois  Maggie Scherder – Peoria, Illinois USA (2nd August 2002)  Maggie started swimming at age 9 with the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Assoc Swim Team (HISRA) who participates at Special Olympics Illinois. While she has competed in soccer and dance, she seemed to be a natural in the water. Her favorite races to swim at a meet are those where she is a part of a relay.  In her free time, she loves to hang out with friends and family while playing cards or board games. She enjoys camping, canoeing and horseback riding with her Girl Scout Troop. Maggie has also been volunteering as an altar server at her church since age 10.  Maggie joined the USA DSS team in 2018 and competed at 9th DSISO World Champions in Truro, Canada.  She finished the meet with three top 8 times (8th in the 50 backstroke and 3rd in both the 100 backstroke and 4x200 free relay). She set Junior Americas SCM records in the 50 and 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 100 breaststroke and 100 IM. Caitlin Trevor - USA  A dual national, Caitlin divides her time between, London, UK and , Delaware, USA. Caitlin gave up a place with the Fulham Badgers football (soccer) team to join the Kingston Royals Swimming Club in February 2017. Caitlin also trains with the London Disability Swimming Club at the London Olympic Pool. As a Special Olympics swimmer, she belongs to the Electric Eels in Windsor, Berkshire. She is delighted to be part of Team USA.  Caitlin first represented the United States in Kosovo in May 2018 winning a Gold Medal in Breast Stroke and two bronze medals. Representing Kingston, she won a Silver medal at the London Youth Games in 2018 . She then represented the USA at the DSISO World Championships in Truro, Canada in July 2018. In October 2018, Caitlin was awarded the Disability Sports Achiever Award by Kingston Borough, London. She was recently awarded Outstanding Swimmer of the Year at the Eels. She has won several medals at the Downs European Competition in Southampton, England in both 2018 and 2019. She currently holds 10 DSISO America’s records.  Caitlin attends School full time and enjoys music, working toward her Silver Duke of Edinburgh award and performing with her drama group, Group 64. She also enjoys participating in classes with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and enjoying horse riding with Horserangers RDA at Hampton Court where she recently won second place at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. A recent highlight includes having her photo broadcast in NYC’s Times Square by the USA’s National Down’s Syndrome Society. Caitlin is an enthusiastic Harry Potter fan!
